We do lots of fun math projects throughout the year. I believe that the best way to learn new concepts is a combination of direct instruction, hands on activities, and group projects. I am also a strong believer in inquiry based lessons, allowing the students to problem solve and utilize higher level thinking skills...

Create Your Own Outfit Project
This was such a fun culminating project for our first unit on Number Sense. We learned about Addition and Subtraction strategies and practiced counting change. We got to design our own unique article of clothing in a Microsoft Word Template. On our sale day, everyone in Mr. Clevenstine's 4th grade class was given $100 to shop for 4 articles of clothing. We had to make change and write receipts for each customer! Our hard work surely paid off!
